This train is dedicated for operation on Sanyo Shinkansen Line based on the design of 700 Series "NOZOMI", which was developed in conjunction with JR Central. Luxury interior accommodation and unique service facilities are provided on this highest quality train.
New Shinkansen train, which currently holds the world record of a maximum operating speed of 300km/h, was developed to improve passenger service and to reduce travel time. It is designed to improve passenger riding quality and service maintainability, in addition to reducing atmospheric pressure upon entering a tunnel. Aluminum honeycomb structure is introduced into body side panel for reducing car body weight, and wing type pantograph is adopted for reducing noise levels.
Drawing on the style of the first "Amenity Vehicles," the body structure is made as broad as possible for rolling stock and provides spaciousness hitherto unknown in train passenger cabins. Both the internal and external design reflect the logo colors of the Boso expresses, namely blue (the deep blue of the Pacific), yellow (the brilliant sunshine and rape blossom of the Boso region) and white (summer beaches). All these factors combine to provide a comfortable journey.
The design of URBAN LINER NEXT was made with special emphasis being placed on "how to make passengers feel comfortable."
All the passenger seats are nonsmoking to meet general demand, but smoking spaces are provided at certain area with a relaxing atmosphere. The body structure of the cars, with its thin side surfaces and large side windows, creates a sense of space. The front image of the train preserves the image of its predecessor, Urban Liner, but has more futuristic shape.
The 22600 series was developed as an evolution of the 22000 series car, and has been named “ACE” the 22600 series will become the new Kintetsu Limited Express standard, with more comfortable, convenient seats, and separate smoking compartments. The new vehicles will enter service on many different lines that include Osaka, Nagoya, Nara, Kyoto, and Ise-Shima.
The new type of commuter train "321 series" has been put into revenue service since the fall of 2005 in the Keihanshin District, through the Tokaido and Sanyo Line (JR Kyoto Line and JR Kobe Line). A feature of the vehicle is that 3 monitor devices are installed in the ceiling instead of some suspended paper advertisements inside the vehicle to provide passengers with a variety of both written and visual information.
